Dolcetto d’Alba DOC Scaletta

Hands up anyone who thinks Dolcetto d’Alba is just a table wine, simple to make and easy to drink.
Well, with Dolcetto d’Alba Scaletta, we wanted to challenge the popular perception of this wine, which, while continuing to symbolise everyday rural life in Piedmont, can also take on an unexpected character due to various factors.
The grapes come from the Scaletta vineyard, so named for its steep slopes that resemble the outline of a staircase (the Italian “scala” meaning “staircase”) and are harvested and vinified separately. Its particular microclimate (exposure, altitude and soil) confers greater structure and body. Together with soft tannins and a dry, warm finish, the result is a balanced and enjoyable yet complex wine, capable of ageing for up to 15 years.
