Barbera d’Alba DOC Superiore Mugiot

Armando Piazzo’s interpretation of Barbera.
One of the first single-vineyard wines that the Commendatore produced in line with his own personal vision in the late 1970s. A naturally fruity wine, low in tannins and with pronounced acidity. However, if harvested when slightly overripe, the acidity naturally decreases and the sugars become more concentrated, resulting in a full-bodied wine that caresses the mouth with a smoothness that lingers on the palate.
In local dialect, “Mugiot” means “little mound”, and this Barbera accounts for only a small portion of our production. The name refers to the nickname given to Armando’s grandfather and later to Armando himself, but that is another story, still waiting to be told.
